The Department of Treasury has released an interim final rule (IFR) that delineates the eligible uses of the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFR). The SLFR is providing $350 billion to state, local, territorial and tribal governments to support their response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including programs to assist hard-hit communities and populations. The IFR includes a great deal of flexibility in the use of the funds, which will be distributed by states, localities, territories and tribal governments as grants to eligible entities. This summary provides an overview of key areas where the SLFR could support children’s hospital priorities and advance children’s health. It also highlights questions posed by Treasury related to additional areas that should be considered for support.
