About This Event

Developed by the Society of Critical Care Medicine's Pediatric Sepsis Definition Taskforce, the International Consensus Criteria for Pediatric Sepsis and Septic Shock are a new way to define sepsis in children once it has occurred.

These criteria have implications for epidemiology, quality improvement, and research. Join us for a presentation and discussion with members of the taskforce, who also served as leads for the Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes (IPSO) Collaborative.

View the follow-up discussion on the Sepsis Community of Practice website.

Learning objectives

  1. Explain the Phoenix criteria for pediatric sepsis and septic shock and identify opportunities to incorporate these criteria into pediatric sepsis work.
  2. Evaluate the differences between the Phoenix criteria and sepsis screening.
  3. Discuss the implications of Phoenix criteria for existing pediatric sepsis literature and current care recommendations provided by IPSO and other organizations.
